Hi guys.

I enjoyed listening to your review and discussion and generally agree with you, though my opinion is probably even harsher than yours. What I think is clear at this point is that DoFP falls far short of First Class, which I've come to recognize as probably the best of the series to date.

I thought you might be interested in listening to the following podcast interview with screenwriter Simon Kinberg. http://www.theqandapodcast.com/2014/06/x-men-days-of-future-past-q.html

Based on the interview it seems pretty obvious that Kinberg is a fan of the comics and was aware of the different issues with his script and thought he mostly addressed them. But the bottom line from my perspective is that he just didn't do such a good job and the biggest mistake (though Bryan Singer is probably more to blame) was insisting on saddling this movie with the continuity of the first three movies instead of just continuing with the mostly fresh start of First Class.
